Samantha, Lesley and Paul

London to Paris Charity Cycle Fundraiser - June 2009

Samantha Pearson successfully cycled from London to Paris to raise money for Kidney Research UK.

Paul Graham co-owner of Alcomet, saw Samantha’s story in the local Stourbridge News and decided to sponsor her cycle ride. Paul’s son unfortunately suffers from chronic kidney disease caused by an inflamed blood vessel, known as vasculitis, making it a cause close to his heart.

Paul was very proud of Samantha. He said: “I saw that Sam was planning the trip and looking for sponsorship. We like our company to do its bit for charity, and I think Kidney Research UK does an important and valuable job. Without the funds they raise, we wouldn’t be making these vital advances in treating kidney disease

“I take my hat off to Sam – she’s a real hero. It’s easy for people like me to sign a cheque, but she’s the one that’s put all the hard work in. I feel quite humbled when I think of what she’s been able to do.”

Charity Challenge - Saigon to Angkor Wat Bike Ride January 2008

Saigon to Angkor Wat Charity Challenge Following Garys' Great Wall of China Trek he has  now set himself another charity challenge.

He will be tackling a gruelling 500km cycle from Saigon (Vietnam) through the heart of the Mekong Delta to Angkor Wat (Cambodia) in 7 days and hopefully raising lots of money in the process for the NSPCC.

Gary has paid the full amount of the trip himself so all monies raised go straight to charity.

The NSPCC relies on 85% of its income from voluntary donations. Please join the many thousands of people who donate to the NSPCC which provides abused and neglected children somewhere to turn. Children are suffering unimaginable cruelty everyday and it must stop. FULL STOP.

Gary James

Charity Challenge - Great Wall of China May 2007

In mid 2006 Gary underwent extensive and groundbreaking reconstructive surgery on his knee. Less than a year later in May 2007 Gary put his knee to the test in a gruelling trek along the great wall of china. The challenge started in Jinshanling with a vigorous trek that looped along the mountains either side of the Gubeikou Gateway, for the next 8 days he will be followed the wall as it twisted and wound its way along the mountains, passing the crumbling watchtowers that in centuries past formed Imperial China's frontline of defence.

This trek was in support of the NSPCC and raised in excess of £4000. Thank you to all who sponsored Gary.
