Accounts Assistant

Based in Kingswinford in the West Midlands, Alcomet is a market leading supplier of electrical materials and components to the electricity sector. Established for 15 years our clients include the UK’s largest operators and construction companies in the industry.

To support our current team we are looking to recruit a permanent Accounts Assistant to join to finance team.

The key responsibilities of the Accounts Assistant will consist of the following:

  • General administration duties
  • Accounts payable – processing supplier invoices, performing reconciliations of statements and the preparation of the payment runs
  • Accounts receivable – sending monthly statements to customers and some elements of credit control
  • Assist the Financial Controller with the month end processes
  • Assist in the payroll by calculating overtime payments on weekly time-sheets
  • Managing company credit card and staff expenses
  • Dealing with incoming post
  • Dealing with accounting queries
  • Supporting the Financial Controller with day to day functions of the department

The Candidate will be an integral part of the Finance team, reporting to the Financial Controller therefore it is essential that the candidate possess the following attributes:

  • Have an AAT or equivalent qualification (currently studying or completed)
  • Exposure to Account Software packages (preferably Sage)
  • Gained previous experience within a similar job role
  • Good Microsoft Office and Excel knowledge and skills
  • Well organised and good time management skills in order to meet company deadlines
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Excellent attention to details and communication skills

Experience:

  • Accounting: 1 year (Preferred)
  • AAT Qualification achieved or study towards.: 1 year (Preferred)
